Ingredients:
- Pasta
- Pasta water
- Lemon, zest and juice
- Parmesan , freshly grated
- Red crushed pepper
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Garlic
- Thyme
- Parsley (optional)
- Olive oIl
- Unsalted Butter
- Breadcrumbs
- Roasted artichoke (optional)
Creamy Lemon Pasta with Crunchy Bread Crumbs
Servings: 3 people
Ingredients
- 4-5 large garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 tsps red crushed pepper
- 3 tbsp olive oil plus more to finish
- 4-5 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup parmesan, freshly grated
- 1/2 tbsp fresh thyme
- 1&1/4 cup Pasta water
- black pepper to taste
- 13 ounces spaghetti or any other pasta of your liking
- salt to taste
- 1 medium lemon juice and zest
Crunchy Bread Crumbs
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 tbsp fresh thyme or dried
Instructions
Crunchy Breadcrumbs
- Heat butter in a small skillet over medium heat.
- Add breadcrumbs and thyme. Cook over low-medium heat, stirring frequently, until the crumbs are golden.
- Set aside and begin making the pasta.
Creamy Lemon Pasta
- Cook the pasta in salted boiling water until al dente.
- Heat a pan with olive oil, garlic, red crushed pepper, thyme and stir on low heat.
- Then add in your black pepper and butter.
- Now add 1/2 cup of the pasta water, cheese, lemon juice, lemon zest and stir. Add the additional pasta water and stir on low to medium heat.
- Now add in your al dente pasta and finish cooking in the sauce. Add additional pasta water and parmesan to your liking.
- Taste and add additional seasoning to your liking. Finish with black pepper, parmesan and lemon zest.
- You can now top the pasta with crunchy bread crumbs or roasted artichoke.

Made this today and it was so good! I’ve been feeling under the weather and this was the first thing that has sounded good to make. It was easy and fast.
I didn’t use all of the ingredients in the same ratios so mine was heavier on the red pepper flake and much spicier which I liked 😁 it’s easy to adjust.
Loved this recipe! It was very easy and ended up eating way more than I intended to because it was absolutely delicious. I followed the recipe as it was and added the optional parsley. Will definitely try it with some sauteed shrimp.
