Today, I am here to share a matcha tiramisu recipe that is Ah-mazing! Now, I am still trying to find the best vegan tiramisu recipe and once I do, I will for share on it the blog (stay tuned)! I have been on this matcha kick recently and loving it. I highly recommend searching up all the benefits of matcha. I have been trying to experiment with matcha in baked good and so far, a huge success. This matcha tiramisu recipe is creamy and luscious but the matcha adds a really nice earthy (not bitter) taste!
For those who do not know much about matcha, it is just ground up green tea leaves that is packed with antioxidants and other great health benefits. But I know that not everyone is a fan of the taste. It is earthy and bitter than the traditional green tea bags. It took me a while to find the best way to use matcha in drinks. If there is one recipe to try from this blog, it is this one. This matcha tiramisu recipe can easily be made with espresso ( traditional tiramisu) or any other flavors. I really want to try out a fruit tiramisu, but I am sure Italians are side eyeing me right now. I know, fruit tiramisu is not an actual tiramisu!
If you are heading to a dinner party and want to make this or you are hosting, I recommend making this at least a day before and letting sit in the fridge to soak up all of those delicious flavors. If you want to know how to make this super easy Matcha Tiramisu, you will find the recipe below! Also, feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions!

- 8 ounces mascarpone (Italian sweet cream cheese)
- 3/4 cup organic cane sugar ( you can add honey, coconut sugar and adjust sweetness to your liking)
- 473 ml organic heave whipping cream ( one pint)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large organic egg yolks ( this is optional and you can replace with additional mascarpone)
- 2 tablespoons oat milk
- 2 bags lady fingers
- 6 ounces room temperature water
- 3 tablespoons organic matcha powder

- In a separate bowl, add the egg yolks and sugar and mix until smooth.
- Set up a double boiler: place the bowl with the egg yolk and sugar mixture on top of a sauce pan over medium heat that is on a simmer. Make sure the boiling water is not touching the bowl. Add the 2 tablespoons of oat milk and whisk the mixture for about 7 minutes until smooth. This method cooks the egg yolk.
- Once the mixture has thickened and is pale yellow, set aside and let it cool completely.
- In a separate chilled bowl, add the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract and whisk by hand or with an electric hand held mixture until you get a semi-thick whipped cream. Note: this will take 5 -7 minutes.
- In small bowl, add 1 teaspoon of matcha powder and 2 tablespoons of warm water and mix until powder is fully dissolved. Add the matcha mixture to your egg yolk and sugar mixture and mix well.
- Add the mascarpone to the egg yolk cream mixture and blend until smooth and lump free.
- Add a large spoon of the whipping cream in the mascarpone egg yolk mixture and fold. Note: be-careful not to over mix because you do not want to deflate the whipping cream. Add the remaining whipped cream and fold until mixture is fully incorporated.
- In a large wide bowl, add the warm/ semi room temperature water and add 1 tablespoon of matcha powder and whisk until powder is fully dissolved.
- You can use any pan of your choice. I used a glass trifle bowl to serve my matcha tiramisu. Begin my soaking a lady finger into the matcha water on both sides quickly and creating a layer at the bottom of the bowl. Then add one large spoon of cream mixture and spread to cover the lady finger layer.
- Repeat each step with a layer of soaked lady fingers in matcha and a layer of cream filling until you get to the top. I reserved 2 large spoons of cream filling to decorate the top of the of cake with circles using a piping bag.
- Cover the bowl with a clear plastic and place in the fridge overnight or at least for 6 hours.
- Before serving sprinkle some matcha powder over the top of the cake and enjoy this delicious dessert!
